July 2014 Favorites Part I: Fashion, Beauty, Book & App

Happy Sunday folks! I can't believe it's Sunday already! How are your weekend going so far?

This is going to be my first monthly favorites article on my blog, just because I decided I wanna share with y'all what are my favorites this month. Or I would rather say, these few months, as a result of combining all the favorite things I have been digging in the past months into this month's favorite. I also wanna let you peek into my life a little bit more :) I'm aware that July hasn't come to an end but since I've been trying out so many products I decided to put it into two parts. Part II will be out probably in the beginning of August. Stay tuned! Anyways, I've pulled together a handful of my favorite things and categorized them into below. So enjoy!

Favorite Clothing Articles:

Distressed Denim Shorts from Mango

I can't express in words how much I adore this pair of denim shorts. I've caught myself wearing these almost everyday in this month. If you read my previous articles, you knew I was desperate to find a pair of perfect distressed denim shorts, and this is it guys. This is it!

Floral Necklace from Dressing Paula

This is by far one of the purchases that I've been very proud of, in terms of the price and quality. I constantly receive compliments on this necklace from my friends. And the best thing about it, it's less than 30 bucks.

Jacques du Manoir Swiss Made Watch

I am never a watch person, not because I don't like wearing watch nor I never consider it as fashion piece. But because I'm super picky when it comes to watch. First, I always love a timeless and classic watch. Second, I desire a good quality one. And thirdly, budget-friendly, please! We all know a good watch can be expensive, sometimes overpriced. I used to live in Swiss and I drooled over exquisite and fine watches everytime I passed by the display of watch shops. And every time when I look closely into the prices displayed along with the watches, I am very much taken aback by the 4 to 5 figures. In Swiss Francs. But this swiss made watch is definitely my favorite score from my trip to Switzerland last month because it fulfilled my above three criteria. Until I can afford a better one, this will be on my wrist for quite some time!

Favorite Beauty Products:

Dior Vernis Nail Lacquer in 999 Rouge Altesse

I am a huge fan of nail polish in the past months. I have been trying out so many nail colors from different brands and in July, this color top my list and I'm so thrilled it's in my nail polish collection now. I think the red shade is what makes me fall in love so hard, it's so rich and it kind of brings out its strong personality by being so seductive but at the same time saying, 'you don't wanna mess with me!' Ha! Thanks bay! :)

P.S. Nail Polish Twist Pot Instant Removal from Primark

Hands down to this treasure that I have scored in Primark when I was in London! Super convenient. Stick your finger into the pot, twist, take it out, and voila, your nail polish is gone just like that! I am not sure if Malaysia has these, if it does, please let me know. Cause I would love to buy more! But girls, if you're in UK, you should totally buy it from Primark because it cost only 1£!

Favorite Book:

Trafficked by Sophie Hayes

I actually read this book a while ago but I decided it should appear in my July favorites because this is by far the best book I have ever read. This is based on a real story experienced by the author. And if you haven't read this, get your hands on a copy from your nearest MPH bookstore!
"Relentless, gripping and utterly terrifying, Trafficked is the story of how a British girl was forced into the dark and dangerous world of the sex trade - and how she survived."

Favorite App:

TwoGrand

I thought it would be fun to feature a favorite app section. My favorite in July has to go to TwoGrand. TwoGrand is like a food journal allowing you to record your daily meals and keep an eye on your eating habit. Most of the time, we tend to 'mindlessly' put junks and snacks into our stomach. Well I'm not gonna lie, whenever I feel bored at home, my body will automatically brings me to the fridge to search for food. Sometimes, without realization, I can empty the whole pack of chips while watching a TV show. It sounds scary but it's true! A couple of months ago, I downloaded this app and decided to try it out. I love it because I get to log what I have eaten and by visualizing my eating habit, it helps me to control my intake. Although sometimes I can still be forgetful, but I tried my best to log every meals I have.

I log whatever I eat everyday even it's just a small piece of chocolate. I eat a lot but I am trying hard to control myself!

In the caption part I usually just write down the name of the meal. I downloaded this app just for myself so I wasn't planning to make it fancy or whatsoever, and I also don't log my progress and exercise that I've done.

That is it for my July Favorites Part I! Let me know what do you think of this whole monthly favorites idea and what other categories I should feature on my next favorites article. Also, I would love to know what's your favorites by far so put your comment down below and share it with me! :) Thank you for reading, til then! xo

When In Zurich

I felt completely matured when I put on these matching jacket and shorts and by wearing these, I felt like I didn't dress my age at all. I hesitated for a while whether I should wear this out on the day we visited Zurich because I never really wear something like this before and I was so worried the hot weather was going to kill me. But then I was like, "why not? girl you brought them here and you're not wearing them? Also, you are going to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with clothes once in a while!" But yeah, I was almost killed by the freaking hot weather and everyone was like giving me a why-are-you-wearing-these stare. But then again, no regrets! Cause when am I ever going to wear them again?

For me, Zurich is always this beautiful. It's one of the most expensive cities in the world but also the best city in the world to live in. You can see how much the locals are enjoying their life by just sitting in a gorgeous cafe which overlook the incredible lake and take a sip or two of their rich and piping hot coffee. Talking about life... For those who visited Zurich before, what do you think about the city?

Hey! If you haven't subscribe to my blog, you totally should because I'll be giving away a special gift to one of my subscribers! (hint: beauty product!) Thank you for reading! By the way, I'm wondering if I should continue posting my video diary for my trip to Paris and Swtzerland. Let me know what do you think! Thank you, til then! xo

I Call It Home

It's July and I'm here still writing about my outfits I wore during my Europe trip. For your information, I went there at the end of May (yeah...). Please excuse my updates that are as slow as molasses in January and I promise I'll try to speed up a little in the future.

I call Switzerland my second home because as you have already know, I spend some time studying in there. I lived and studied on a mountain called Leysin but Montreux is a lovely town that I have spend most of my free time in. Usually for some Chinese food that I craved all of sudden, or meeting with my best friend who was living in Montreux, or once in a blue moon for a carefree walk along the lakeside to escape from the books and reports. Ah, full of reminiscence of those happy days.

My trip was kinda intense in the beginning but it kind of slow down from the day I arrived Montreux. I walked along the lakeside with my little sisters, we rewarded ourselves a gelato to recover from the crazy itinerary we had earlier, we sit by the lake and enjoyed the sun and the impeccable view of Montreux, we tried to take everything slow... until the moment that I had to go back to the hotel and get ready for my graduation ceremony. Yup, I'm officially graduated!

This outfit that I wore in Montreux kind of represents my mood of that time ― laid-back and lazy. Honestly, whenever lazy days hit me, a white plain tee is all I feel like wearing. This pair of boyfriend jeans have now became a staple in my closet. Can't live without it! And also, who doesn't love a good pair of Converse for a long walk? This outfit is simply a mix and match of all the garments that I have worn on previous days. If you still remember this denim top...

Thank you for reading! If you haven't subscribe to my blog by clicking the 'Join this site' you'll see at the sidebar, you totally should! Because 1) you will be notified for instant updates from my blog and 2) I will be giving away something special to one of my lucky subscribers (no matter when you're from)! So be sure you have done so! OK, it's time for me to hit the bed. Good night y'all! Til then xo

Shades On, Geneva!

Surprisingly, Geneva or I would say Switzerland in whole has the best weather during my trip to the four European countries. You can probably tell from the photos that it was super sunny!

I realized that I always feel most comfortable in outfit like this -- edgy, a little punk and tomboy. I guess if I live in a four seasons country, biker jacket will definitely be my staple piece and the most worn item from my wardrobe during the fall/winter season. Also, how can I not wear black? Black is the new black! (uhm just kidding..) Well, let's admit it, nobody in this world can live without black clothing, be it your shirt, your shoes or your under garment.

Layered necklaces are what I'm into these days. I think it spices things up when the outfit looks dull or uninteresting and you don't wanna go too simple like a single pendant necklace or too bold like a statement necklace.

Please excuse my no edits to these photos cause when I put them on my sister's laptop the color looks so beautiful that I don't feel like doing anything to them. And I think the sun and scene deserve to stand out on their own without any filters! That's it for today. Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day! Til then, xo!

Dreamy Paris

It actually sounds kinda funny to me that I have used 'Dreamy Paris' as the title of this post because I used this term to describe my outfit instead of Paris. I never ever would use dreamy on myself. Because both my style and my personality are not even close to dreamy. However, in this article I decided to describe my look as dreamy because 1) I wore such a gorgeous and flattering knee-length skirt and 2) I wore this outfit in the city of love - indeed dreamy!

Day 2 in Paris was a little disappointing because of the weather. When my family and I were all ready to go out and explore the city, the rain started to fall, which is also the reason why I changed my flatforms (the ones that I've mentioned in my video post) into a pair of slip-ons. Wearing faltforms would be very impractical for me to go out in the rain. I think the jewels played a huge role in enhancing my whole dreamy and classy look especially the eye earrings, which I think are a little Dolce & Gabbana-ish. Moreover, I love this t-shirt because it's not just an ordinary striped tee. Look at the details, it is bejeweled!

Fortunately, the weather turned better in the late afternoon. The sun has came out smiling to all of us and then Paris is the beautiful Paris again!

Announcement: I will not be using @sundayandstyle Instagram account anymore because I found it difficult to manage two accounts so I will just stick to my old one which is @jocelyn_heng. Therefore, you're all so welcomed to follow my journey through my Instagram account! Thanks for reading my blog, I really appreciate it! I'll stop here, til then! xo
